The Canto is the principal form of division in a long poem, which often functions to tell a "tale of the tribe," or a story that encompasses a whole culture's values and history. The word comes from Italian, meaning "song" or singing.
In music, Bel Canto is a virtuoso style of vocal musical performance; very roughly, the hallmarks of the bel canto style are seamless range, agility and flexibility, speed and accuracy in response to variation, pleasing, focused quality and graceful phrasing rooted in mastery of the instrument .
